A Year of Consolidation and Examination Preparation
Year 10 is a decisive year in the student’s middle school journey. For students whose educational project is oriented towards continuing within the French educational system, Year 10 follows a 100% French-dominant programme, providing coherent preparation for the requirements of the Diplôme National du Brevet. Instruction focuses on consolidating essential knowledge and skills, as well as developing the methods required for examination success: organising revision, managing time, understanding instructions, writing, argumentation, problem-solving and preparing for different forms of assessment. The objective is to enable students to approach this important stage with strong study methods and a clear understanding of academic expectations.
Building the Student’s Educational and Academic Project
Year 10 is also an important period for thinking about the next stage of the student’s education. Students are progressively encouraged to identify their interests, skills, aspirations and the educational environments in which they would like to continue their studies. The school’s guidance aims to help each family take into account the pathway already developed in Years 7, 8 and 9 and determine the next stage in a coherent way. For students who have developed a pathway oriented towards the Cambridge system, continuity with the Cambridge subjects studied previously may also be considered when planning their progression towards secondary education and, eventually, IGCSE preparation.
Preparing Students for an International Secondary Pathway
By the end of Middle School, the objective is for students to be able to function independently in a demanding, bilingual and international academic environment. Beyond subject knowledge, the programme develops communication skills in both languages, critical thinking, the ability to research and analyse information, collaboration, problem-solving and initiative. The Middle School progression therefore provides students with a strong bilingual foundation before they progressively move towards the pathway corresponding to their educational project. Whether students continue within a French-speaking, English-speaking or international system, they leave Middle School with academic and methodological skills designed to facilitate their transition to upper secondary education.
